THQ Wireless’ iPhone revenues look set to get a healthy boost, with
news that its de Blob game is to be preloaded on iPhone and iPod touch
display units in Apple’s real-world stores.
According to VentureBeat, the game won’t be the only app to benefit
in this way over the coming months (although it doesn’t name the
others).
In true Apple style, this isn’t a commercial deal. The company is
effectively choosing apps that it feels best show off the devices’
capabilties. A similar policy is in operation on the App Store itself.
de Blob will apparently be popping up in Apple Stores from
mid-October, anyway. It had already been one of the games spotlighted
on the App Store homepage, so its impact on THQ Wireless’ bottom line
will presumably be healthy.
